Saint Rose faculty and students welcomed 24 students from the New Scotland Elementary School. The students took part in a collaborative service learning arts project with their regular education teacher Mrs. Beth Indovina, special education teacher Mrs. Erin Reeve, and students from Saint Rose. The students visited the college to perform poems they had written, and take a tour of the Saint Rose campus to see the ways the Saint Rose students used arts and writing to relate to the community. This was a great experience for the children to see college with their own eyes. The students have been able to do many projects with the faculty of Saint Rose and work on "My Community is Bigger Than Me". Due to a lack of federal aid, the ability for the students to explore these projects was stopped. There is still confidence that service learning can be provided to the students of New Scotland Elementary School.
